SUMMARY:CheMatSustain at the Baltic University Progamm’s 35-year celebratory webinars
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the Programme’s 35th anniversary in 2026\, BUP will host a series of webinars dedicated to sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region. \n\n\n\nDuring our presentation\, the CheMatSustain project and the Technical University of Denmark’s work on the safety and sustainability assessment of chemicals and nanomaterials will be introduced. We will highlight how Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)\, Risk Assessment (RA)\, and Absolute Environmental Sustainability Assessment (AESA) can support Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches. SUMMARY:CheMatSustain at the SSbD Project Legacy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:CheMatSustain will be joining the SSbD Project Legacy Workshop\, organised by the EU-funded PINK project. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will take place on the 3rd and 4th of November in Brussel\, and it aims to: \n\n\n\n\nidentify the collective legacy of Horizon Europe SSbD projects\n\n\n\ndevelop a shared understanding of strategic capabilities requiring long-term\n\n\n\n\nstewardship \n\n\n\n\nidentify collaborative opportunities for sustaining and exploiting project results\n\n\n\n\nduring the runtime of the projects and after \n\n\n\n\nstrengthen links between Horizon Europe projects and complementary\n\n\n\n\nEuropean initiatives (e.g. IRISS\, IAM-I\, JRC\, OECD and standardisation activities) \n\n\n\n\nidentify possible sustainability pathways for priority legacy elements\, including collaborative actions\, governance approaches\, potential long-term hosts and required support mechanisms beyond the current funding period\n\n\n\nformulate recommendations for future European policy and funding mechanisms supporting long-term SSbD implementation\n\n\n\n\nWe are looking forward to fruitful discussions during the event. DESCRIPTION:This year\, CheMatSustain will contribute to the KINDER-UNI\, an initiative from the HAW Hamburg. Through engaging lectures and hands-on experiments\, the initiative aims to bring science closer to schoolchildren. Once a year\, researchers from the university explain in a simple and fascinating way how things in nature\, technology\, and everyday life work. \n\n\n\nIn the session hosted by CheMatSustain\, students will explore the world of nanomaterials and discover how materials can behave differently when they become extremely small. Through interactive discussions and hands-on investigation\, students will learn how scientists study the relationship between size\, surface area\, and material behavior\, and why nanomaterials are important in technology\, medicine\, and environmental research.
